Tretinoin
Tretinoin, the acid form Vitamin A, is often used as an acne treatment and sometimes to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It is a fairly powerful chemical and has been shown to effectively reduce the appearance of acne and scarring in some cases. Because of its potency, it also carries some side-effects.
Points to Consider:
- When used, dryness of the affected skin may occur. More sensitive patients may also experience redness, scaling, itching, and burning.
- When using Tretinoin, it is best to start with a small amount and gradually increase in order to allow the skin to adjust.
- Tretinoin can react negatively with a number of other skin and hair-care products. One should consult their doctor when beginning a round of treatment.
Conclusion
Though it can be effective in some cases, I generally do not recommend Tretinoin products because of their common harsh effect on the skin. For milder, but effective alternatives check out these recommended products…
