Murad Acne Complex
Does the Murad Acne Complex live up to its Infomercial Hype? There are a million products advertised on TV, so I’ll try to make easier for you with a quick summary of the Murad package.
The Three-Step System:
- Clarifying Cleanser – Uses Salicylic acid, which is a fairly effective chemical, though in this chemically derived form is very harsh on the skin. I always recommend White Willow Bark, which is a more natural and gentle source of this ingredient.
- Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel – Again uses Salicylic acid but in a lower concentration. It also includes Glycolic Acids, but in such a low concentration as to make it likely ineffective.
- Skin Perfecting Lotion – Contains ingredients common to most generic lotions combined with Retinol, which is often used as an acne treatment. Again, the concentration is too low to call this an active ingredient.
Pricing
Murad uses a typical auto-ship marketing scheme, which offers a “free” 30-day trial, but unless cancelled (which can be a real pain), they will bill you $30 each month and keep sending you the stuff. Another option is to pay $60 without the auto-ship.

“I started using this product 30 days ago and my face has literally exploded. I have huge cystic acne and horrible scarring with alot of redness. I am so angry, hurt and in a lot pain and I really want to caution anyone intending to use this product to do some research. Conclusion
Basically what we are looking at is yet another re-invented wheel. There is nothing in this product that sets it apart from a generic facial cleanser package which you could buy at a local supermarket for less money. I do not recommend it considering the steep price and AWFUL side effects.
