Freederm HC

Does Freederm HC work?  It is marketed as an “Eczema/Dermatitis” cream, which is another way of saying “All-Purpose Skin Cream.”  This is because almost any irritated skin condition could be conceived as being eczema or dermatitis.

Here are a few things to consider:

  • Claims “no side-effects”, this is a red flag as in most cases this means “no effects at all”
  • Only active ingredient is Hydrocortizone 1%, a low concentration of a cheap over-the-counter anti-inflammatory.
  • Contains a heavy quantity of fatty alcohols and waxes.

Basically, Freederm HC is just another combination of the same generic ingredients and sold at a particularly high price ($30 for only 4 oz.)

This product may help your acne somewhat, but no more than a much cheaper product could provide you.  I do not recommend Freederm HC for acne, eczema, or any other skin condition.
