Dermacia
Is Dermacia all its cracked up to be? Let’s take a look.
Dermacia is marketed as a “special” kind of makeup that contains a patented ingredient, Lycogel. This is said to be relatively mild on the skin, covers up the acne, and allegedly brings more oxygen to your skin. The active ingredient, Titanium Dioxide, is most commonly used as a pigment in industrial paint or to detoxify waste-water - not exactly the kind of stuff I want on my face. It has little or NO relationship to acne treatment.
The kit basically entails is a standard facial cleanser and toner, a moisturizing spray, and then a foundation kit in various skin tone colors. It contains two types of foundations in liquid or cream form.
As far as I can tell, the first three products are basic, everyday facial cleaners and moisturizers which can be bought inexpensively almost anywhere. One of the gimmicks of the foundation is that it contains sunscreen SPF 30. Ultimately what you are getting is a really expensive facial cleanser/make up kit which does not actually prevent or treat acne. In some cases it may actually aggravate your acne problem.
Price
This product would not be particularly expensive if it were an actual acne treatment. On the website they offer to either send you a “free” trial and enroll you in an auto-ship program (which IS a pain to cancel) or to sell it to you straight up for $30. If you are just looking for make-up, which is essentially what you are getting, this is a lot to pay.
Conclusion
I do not recommend this product as an acne treatment. What you get with Dermacia, you can get with any standard facial cleanser and make-up. If you are into buying expensive kinds of make-up, then you are welcome to try it.
